Here’s how a Self-Guided Heritage Journey works:
You travel. We support you in making it a transformative experience. You book your own travel, but you will be able to consult with Motherland Travel before, during and after your Heritage Journey so that you gain as much from your experience as possible.

Heritage Journey Consultations
Intake Phone Session
- As you are planning your birth country trip, we will have a one-hour phone call during which we do an extensive intake interview to determine the specific needs of your family, identify potential triggers and discuss how you can organize your trip with these in mind.
Pre-departure Phone Session
- Before you depart, we will answer questions related to your specific travel arrangements, your itinerary and how to incorporate activities that will help you realize your goals for the trip. We will also walk you through potential triggers that can occur during a Heritage Journey.
Post-travel Phone Session
- When you return, we will reflect on your family’s experiences and process what you learned about yourself and your family together. During this call we will help you develop a strategic plan for continuing the transformation you began while traveling.
